Experiencing anxiety or stress over dental visits is extremely common amongst all age groups, and is nothing to be ashamed of! The thought of a dental appointment can be overwhelming, and for this reason patients can put off visiting the dentist.
Funnily enough however, the more often you visit the dentist, the less stressful it becomes. We recommend 6 monthly check-ups and cleans, which will not only keep your teeth clean & sparkly but also help reduce the stress you may experience around dental visits.
“I haven’t been to the dentist for a long time and I am humiliated & scared of what needs to be done” You can rest assured knowing there will be no judgement coming from our denists and assistants! We pride ourselves on our professionalism, and our experience makes no tooth problem a daunting task. With a proper consult we can examine your teeth and formulate a treatment plan to help with whatever problems or concerns you may have.
What can I do to help relieve my children’s fear of the dentist? And when should I bring my child in for their first visit? This one is actually extremely common! Children may fear the dentist for a number of reasons, and this fear can end up becoming a problem when it is not addressed. Bringing your child in for an initial consult appointment to meet one of our dentists is the first step to easing that anxiety, and we recommend having this initial appointment as young as possible. Why? Once your child establishes who their dentist is and experiences what it is like to be in the dentist chair, what instruments and tools are used, and more importantly why they are used, a lot of the stress is dramatically reduced. Then when your child comes in for their first proper check-up they will then know what to expect and more importantly, they will know their dentist!
Anxiety about how your teeth may look? It is not uncommon to stress about how teeth may look cosmetically. Luckily technological advances have allowed for orthodontic and whitening treatments to be easier than ever, so if you have any concerns have a chat to one of our dentists today! It is never too late to improve your smile.
So how will visiting the dentist actually help ease anxiety?
Addressing the fear is step 1, and making an appointment can sometimes feel like the most difficult part! Visiting one of our friendly dentists will help put your mind at ease once they talk through the procedure and offer their advice. Every patient walks away from our dental practice smiling, knowing everything is under control.
